    GROUP PRESENTATION GUIDELINES
The group presentation involves undertaking research on the topic provided to each
group, preparing a report comprising notes presentation slides and then presenting
the research to the class. Preparation of notes carries 7.5 marks and the presentation
    7.5 marks.
    A. Preparation of notes
Your assignment should focus on answering the question and NOT on restating the
lecture material to which the assignment topic relates.
Use reputable sources of literature to support your research. This means accessing
peer-reviewed articles and texts (available at the Macquarie University Library) or
studies produced by authorities such as the World Bank, central banks, IMF,
regulatory bodies and NOT investopedia or the sales materials of brokers or lawyers.
If you need to access company issued material (eg prospectuses, target statements)
you can use the Morningstar Datanalysis database at the library, or the stock
    exchange website.
The following format is suggested for the notes:
    1. Use Portrait orientation
    2. Use Times New Roman font, size 12 points
    3. Use 1.5 spacing
    4. Use A4 paper, single or double sided
    5. Staple at the top left hand corner
    6. Do not put the report in plastic sleeves or folders
    7. Maximum 2, 000 words. Table of contents and bibliography are not included in word
count. You may exceed the word count by 10%.
The notes must contain the following:
    1. Cover page - including course name, day and time of your class, title of report,
members’ full name and student ID.
    2. Table of contents
    3. Introduction - Provide a road map of how the notes are structured
    4. Body - Use as many headings as possible. Do not combine too many issues under
    one heading
    5. Conclusion and Recommendation - This is not a summary, but to state some of the
key issues you have found from the research and any recommendation you may have
as a result of your research.
    6. Bibliography: Please use Harvard referencing system.
The notes must be submitted through Turnitin by (only) one member of the group.
Please hand-in a hard copy of the report to your lecturer in the class on the day of your
    presentation.
    Individual contribution to the research:
The course emphasises active contribution by each group member to the project work.
In order to grade the assignment, an individual contribution sheet must be filled out by
each student and submitted to the lecturer in the class along with your notes. The
individual sheets can remain confidential and do not have to be shown to other
    students in your team.
A copy of the individual contribution sheet is included in Appendix. You should note
down the percentage contribution of each member of the group (including yourself) to
the finally completed assignment. For example, if you believe all 5 students in your
group contributed equally to the assignment, you should allocate 20% next to each of
the 5 students. The sheet of every member of the group will be used in determining
the grade for the group members.
    B. Presentation
The group will present the research, with the help of presentation slides, in 15 minutes.
An additional 5 minutes exist for questions and answers. A hard copy of these slides
should be handed over to the lecturer in the class on the day of your presentation.
The group members will be assessed individually for the presentation component (7.5
    marks).
The group is required to allocate approximately equal time to each member for the
presentation. Working together as a group is important to the presentation.
The marking criteria for this assignment are available on the course web site.
